263 km/h on a bike… 🙂

Un record de vitesse de 263 kilomĂštre/heure Ă  vĂ©lo-fusĂ©e a Ă©tĂ© Ă©tabli aujourd’hui. Au lieu d’utiliser la gravitĂ© les membres de l’association ont Ă©quipĂ© un vĂ©lo d’un propulseur Ă©cologique qui fonctionne avec de l’eau oxygĂ©nĂ©e.

Cette opĂ©ration a eu lieu sur l’ancienne piste militaire de Munchhouse. Le Conseil gĂ©nĂ©ral du Haut-Rhin a mis Ă  disposition la piste, pour l’Ă©quipe d’Exotic Thermo Engineering ainsi que les personnes autorisĂ©es. Pour une question de sĂ©curitĂ© et d’assurance, le public n’Ă©tait pas invitĂ©.

Le record est tombĂ© aujourd’hui, mais les tentatives ont dĂ©butĂ© dĂ©jĂ  hier. La mĂ©tĂ©o Ă©tant un Ă©lĂ©ment difficilement maĂźtrisable, il n’a pas Ă©tĂ© possible de prĂ©ciser le planning Ă  l’avance.

L’Ă©quipe avait dĂ©jĂ  rĂ©alisĂ©e le premier record du monde dans cette catĂ©gorie (203 km/h) en juillet 1995, en Suisse. En octobre 1998, la vitesse a Ă©tĂ© portĂ©e Ă  236,7 km/h. Puis en octobre 2002, Ă  242,6 km/h.

Python Rocket

The Royal Engineers fires a Python rocket in order to clear a path through an area in Afghanistan that contains a high number of IEDs.
Footage shows a Python blowing up a suspected IED field in Afghanistan. The Royal Engineers have fired their latest weapon in their battle against the Taliban for the first time an exploding hose which punches safe passage through suspected IED belts. The Python rocket is a trailer-mounted, rocket-propelled mine-clearing system pulled behind the Trojan armoured engineer tank. The Python system fires a snake of high explosives. The detonation, across a suspected IED field in a dry river bed wadi north of Patrol Base Wahid, shook the ground either side of the detonation, and created a huge cloud several hundred metres high

 

Curiosity: NASA Lands Car-Size Rover Beside Martian Mountain

NASA’s most advanced Mars rover Curiosity has landed on the Red Planet. The one-ton rover, hanging by ropes from a rocket backpack, touched down onto Mars Sunday to end a 36-week flight and begin a two-year investigation.

The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) spacecraft that carried Curiosity succeeded in every step of the most complex landing ever attempted on Mars, including the final severing of the bridle cords and flyaway maneuver of the rocket backpack.
