Rx (Reactive Extensions)

Reactive Extensions (Rx) was added to Codeplex.com:

The project is actively developed by the Microsoft Open Technologies, inc., in collaboration with a community of open source developers.

The Reactive Extensions (Rx) is a library for composing asynchronous and event-based programs using observable sequences and LINQ-style query operators. Using Rx, developersrepresent asynchronous data streams with Observables , query asynchronous data streams usingLINQ operators, and parameterize the concurrency in the asynchronous data streams usingSchedulers. Simply put, Rx = Observables + LINQ + Schedulers.

from 0 to C

Created by Ubi de Feo, “from 0 to C” is a new series of workshops that aim at teaching programming using a more creative and human approach.

Through the use of tangible, hand-made objects, we try to establish a clear understanding of  how a computer works and what a programming language actually is: nothing but an abstraction of what we can do as humans.

Via means of playing with objects we explain the simple mathematics behind a computer way of working and the concepts at the core of every programming languages.

The V Motion Project

This project combines the collective talents of musicians, dancers, programmers, designers and animators to create an amazing visual instrument.  Creating music through motion is at the heart of this creation and uses the power of the Kinect to capture movement and translate it into music which is performed live and projected on a huge wall.

We created and designed the live visual spectacle with a music video being produced from the results. We wanted it to be clear that the technology was real and actually being played live. The interface plays a key role in illustrating the idea of the instrument and we designed it to highlight the audio being controlled by the dancer. Design elements like real time tracking and samples being drawn on as they are played all add to authenticity of the performance. The visuals are all created live and the music video is essentially a real document of the night.

Prismatica

Prismatica consists of an arrangement of pyramid-shaped crystals affixed to an LCD screen and illuminated with programmed geometric animation. The animated patterns are precisely mapped to the vertices of the crystals, illuminating them individually and in formation. The animations are further refracted through the geometry of the crystals in accordance with the shifting perspective of the observer, which in turn alters the way the illuminations appear and interact with reflections of surrounding lights within the space.
