Is Google trying to redirect traffic from Bing through ads? [UPDATE]

I just made this search query and by mistake I clicked on the ad result (“Sponsored sites”). Due to my mistake I was redirected to Google.

(Set your language settings to United States. Bing is still in beta in Belgium so you will not be able to see the conversion if you use that beta version).

I was redirected to this website (Google search engine):

If this is really a strategy from Google to redirect traffic back to their search engine by buying ads in other search engines, it would be very very lame.

Google is even testing out a new search interface. Many users already commented that it looks like a copy from Bing.com.

Are they really that scared of Bing?

[Update]

Just came across this (see screen shot below)

Google just introduced their dictionary and again they try to redirect traffic by buying ads in bing.

  1. (Set your language settings to United States. Bing is still in beta in Belgium so you will not be able to see the conversion if you use that beta version).

is exactly the reason why google is better … there it’s default ;-)

  2. Well it’s beta in Belgium so it’s normal if you want to use new features that you need to change your language settings to a country which has the full version (aka non beta).

That has nothing to do with google being better. It’s another strategy that bing tries to give you your local language.
